Trump's Second Worst August Ever
This past August was really bad. One near catastrophe after another. It didn't shake the world as much as his actions in August 2019. But it came so damn close. Let us recap, because I think this can be a amateur timeline.
Let's get into it.
- August 6, 2026
- Trump lobs a second attempt to shatter Birthright Citizenship. He will fail again, but the GOP will someday shatter it with the help of the Supreme Court.
- Trump debuts a new hairpiece for a speech in Las Vegas.
- August 10, 2026
- Trump and public heath officials, led by RFK Jr., sow confusion and chaos regarding infant and child vaccinations. The vaccine schedule didn't have to be changed, With a ridiculous executive order, they demand it be changed anyway, just so more children die of preventable diseases. To be clear, this wasn't Trump and RFK Jr. fixing a problem and being thanked by their supporters. This was Trump and RFK Jr. killing children, while being encouraged by their supporters to kill more. The goal is to sow confusion and discourage vaccines. The result is a sharp decline in the nation's public health. I still don't understand who benefits financially from this. Vaccines are bought and sold.
- Todd Blanche is sworn-in as Attorney General after being confirmed by a single, lame duck Republican vote.
- August 11, 2026
- The Washington Post broke the story that during a July 8 trip departing Turkey, President Trump was secretly transferred out of the "palace" Air Force One (VC-25B) into a smaller, single aisle government plane, due to a credible threat from Iran. In doing so, he left Stephen Miller and two Cabinet members behind on the flying palace as decoys, Scott Bassent and Marco Rubio.

- Trump admitted the secret plane swap took place. This is a president who never cared for a second of his second term. This is a destroy the planet term.
- August 16, 2026
- Suddenly, people paying attention to Trump had a new name to memorize: Natalie Harp. Marcy Wheeler already knew that name last year. But now it is was inescapable. The woman who manages Trump's Truth Social account is also one of his closest aides and advisors, much like Stephen Miller. And like that nazi, she is mentally ill, but in her own special way. Oh, and he took her along in the plane swap! She is his emotional support blonde.

- Indiana was hit by by storms and lost power for weeks, while Melania Trump made a very rare public appearance.
- August 26 2026
- A glacier collapse in Nepal killed an undetermined number of Americans. The president acknowledged the loss of life, but said nothing about assisting Americans through the disaster.
- August 27, 2026
- Trump tried to rename Lake Ontario. Oddly, tech companies and the NOAA went along despite Trump's sinking approval and popularity.
- August 28-31 2026
- Trump orders sweeping tariffs on Canadian goods. NAFTA / USMCA trade treaties were already dead, but this was the start of a pointless trade war that instantly ended the US-Canadian partnership that has existed since at least 1970. By August 2026, the friendship was over, the economic partnership was over, and increasingly, the cultural exchange was over. Over what exactly, we may never know, aside from Trump's twisted understanding of economics. In his mind, any nation that sells goods and services to the US is living off of and "ripping off" the United States. As if the United States can be a global power without trading with any other nation. Also, this would force us to ignore that the US has a massive military industrial complex that relies on selling weapons to other nations.
It was a bad month. And things only got worse after August 2026. The illegal war on Iran continues. The Straight of Hormuz remains closed. The Bab al-Mandab Strait is partially closed. Trump, pushed close to his limits, has resorted to telling Republican voters and farmers that everything will be more normal and less painful in 2027 - just forget about relief this year.
Donald Trump even changed his story on where he was and what he did the week of September 10 2001. Yeah, he can lie about anything. But it go unnoticed.
Voters are now put in the awful position of putting the Democrats in power despite their weakness and ineffectiveness in running the Federal government. Americas are being forced to vote for the Democrats because they know they can't take any more of Trump, his regime, and the Republicans.
The president is showing signs of steep physical decline and fits of madness. When he gets bored in the White House, he posts stacks of AI slop onto his unsustainable social media platform. I can't say with any confidence that Trump will live out his term. He could die any day. And then we would James David Vance stepping in to become the first president to start a term at under 40% approval.
