Trump's Last Days

Trump's Last Days

I think we're close. Sometimes you can tell when a long drive is nearing the end, even if it is a route you have never driven before. You can feel your destination for the night is approaching. The next hotel. The next airbnb. The sun has gone down, you're doing 60 MPH down a deserted byway on the edge of a National Forest or National Park, and it has to be close now. I've been there many times.

I think Paul Krugman is correct. Now is the time to acknowledge we're close to Trump's final stage. We're seeing final days actions and behaviors now.

I think this month, August 2026 will still bring us some astonishing events. But Trump's August has already been his second worst.

A court ordered him to cease construction of the new east wing, which is a bunker / data center / ballroom / drone base. But construction has only accelerated.

Trump destroyed the South Lawn. And is doubling down on its destruction by putting a cheesy helicopter pad for Marine One in its place.

Trump restarted his pointless trade war with Canada, the largest trading partner we have.

And the world now knows the name of the woman who manages Trump's Truth Social profile, prints tweets and news stories for the health of his ego, and probably provides some level of unqualified, depraved nursing care for the Commander in Chief. Her name is Natalie Harp. Oh, and I say this sincerely and respectfully: she's mentally ill and needs help. Our sick president is being tended to by a sick woman.

There are 5 days remaining in August 2026.
